Since Quarlcor was established in 1985, Quarlcor Refractories has become a leader within the specialized refractories industry promoting, manufacturing and installing Burner Quarl Tiles in Power Generation plants.
 
Silicon Carbide was discovered by Edward Goodrich Acheson in 1891.

It was the first man-made abrasive and remains one of the principal materials for the manufacture of abrasive products used for grinding, shaping and polishing.
An important, although less well known application is as a refractory lining component in high temperature applications and as a material for wear linings in highly abrasive installations.

In 1989, Quarlcor invested in its own Silicon Carbide product processing/manufacturing operation, and has two patents in use for its specialized back fix metal to metal retention system for Burner Quarl Tiles in service.

Quarlcor has a proven track record, a quality assessment program which includes major field evaluation, and is actively involved in design, manufacture and installation projects.
